True SAEs are peaceful and can be kept in groups,
False SAEs are territorial to other Algae Eaters so it is best to keep one per tank

Apart from that there isn't much difference

does the false sae eat the hair algae and the brown hair algae (if it does come back), and is it aggressive?

I agree that it is most likely a false SAE (stripe has smooth edges and stops at eyes). Below is a website with good descriptions that should help you with better ID.
