now the lfs told me one was female and one was male....but i have no idea how to tell the difference...i mean they look the same to me! anyway

1 of them tends to swim about more and is more confident then the other, the one in the second picture doesnt seem to move from that spot near the castle, and occasinaly chase's the other one of if he/she gos near....im hoping to get a new tank for them today, so will also be looking into getting them some tank mates, but still
how can i tell what sex each is? cheers!

i no im probbly wrong but to me they kinda look like sevs

also your lid was posted yesterday

ok, an cheers! but now my main concern is if i have a female and male? they look h

yeah looks kind of like a T-bar how cool those fish are not easy to find around here in the USA. The can be Very pretty when the mature.

But to me the shape of the head looks more like a convict .

well, theres a local breader in banbury so i can get loads, but i chose to have just the 2, there in a temp tank whilst the big new 90 litre tank cycles :) its already half way there i cant wait! what other fish will go well with these??

p.s: will they change colour when they grow up or just get better looking in some way?? im abit confussed on how you mean

they are nice fish, i've seen a few recently, seem to be harder to get in some places rather than others!
from what i know and have read 100 litres is about right for a single fish or 150 litres or more for a pair, they prefer a sand substrate good water flow and caves and places for them to hide/breed.
there are a few colour morphs of the sajica , some more colourful than others! just hope you got the colourful ones!
they can be kept with other similarly sized central american cichlids subject to space, i think 90 litres is pushing it a bit, i would suggest mabe at least a 125 litre just for the 2 fish with no other tank mates.
erm the male gets slightly bigger and has longer anal and dorsal fins, i suspect the difference in fin shapes will become more apparent as they mature and also at a similar time to when the colours start to come out more!

over 90 litres just for the 2? that seems a bit ott it cost me an arm and leg for this 90l tank....:(
