Id Like To Get More But Am I Overstockef Yet?

my little brother has a 20 gallon high, everything is fine as to water quality etc...

he currently have 1 betta, 3 otto, 5 neon, 5 glowlight, 2 fancy guppies and we like add abiut 3 more fancy guppy and 5 endlers and 3 cory cat.

We were going for a peaceful and small 1 inch size community all for the sake of the betta (spoil brat I know lol). Dont worry our betta is extremely nice, living in a peaceful community wont even flare at another betta.

What do you his think? Are we goibg to be overstocked seeing how all the fish are generally less than an inch

Betta With Fancy Guppies? How old is your Betta? Be Prepared to have some issues if you start adding more guppies. They are a lively fish, and the more you have, the more busy the tank becomes and the less "Friendly" your betta may become.

Yean I've herd of that situation before, but I assure you I've optimized and maximized (plants cave, etc...)my tank so that it wont our when it does happen it will only be once on a long time.

I have literally no idea what to say to that. But I'll have a go.

Corys need to be in a groups, the often quoted minimum is 6, I'd say more like 8.

Corys, depending on the type, can get pretty chunky and a few inches long. They're very active and always on the go, hunting for something to eat. They appreciate a sand substrate to root around in. They may be a bottom dweller but they still need feeding particular foods.

I'm sorry, I'm still struggling with "dont really count toward the mischevious fish" but I think you mean they won't be a problem with a betta. Evidently you've never seen a betta picking at a cory's fins.

The more fish you have buzzing around a betta, the more likely it is to suddenly go nuts. Also, vice versa - I've had bettas picked on by guppies and tetras. You cannot be sure it won't all go pear shaped however many plants and caves you have. Bettas are territorial and will drive intruders off their patch if need be. The fewer potential threats in the tank with it (ie guppies), the better, from the betta's point of view.

I agree with you both, We always have to use precaution. I have a 60 gallon and might their him in mine instead... Only problem is that the betta is his and when put into mine he cannot be seen well within all the plants.
