Mine comes up to me too. It only took him about a few days. :D

i have mine in with an oscar and a pair of convicts and a blood parrot, the oscar lets the rd follow him around.

now his bars are seeming to slowly dissapear. and he is becoming more orangeish red, besides his tail fin, i dont know what it is called, it is getting a little bit of black on it.
 
isn't the scientific name for the red devil Amphilophus citrinellus? thats what i have read and so is the midas cichlid scientific name is the same

oh ok, i am not very keen on the scientific names, thats just what one website said. that just promotes the idea you can't always trust the net.

take that to your grave! you most def. cannot believe everything you read online!

the best way to tell them apart is red devils usually have more elongated snouts with large lips. the only ones you will see with large lips are TRUE red devils! their lips are so large due to eating algae off of rocks in the wild causing the lips to swell.

midas' usually have a rounder face and a bit more of a nuchal hump.

He has lost his bars now and is almost all orange, you can see a bit of his bars barely. He is a BEAUTIFUL fish. Also quite calm from what red devils should be, he is only aggressive during feeding times. He has made wonderful friends with my oscar and jack dempsey. They tend to swim together for the most part.

also in one of these photos you see my pleco in a fake log, just to let you know that is very temporary. Just until my funds come back up. this tank has broke me LOL!
 
hes going be a friendly little guy for now as hes small, wait till he gets up to the size of my 11 inch male that guy is a real terror, he starts banging and flaring at me even when I am not in the room.

yea i assumed that, but im still going to hope he isnt a mean one. i doubt it but i can dream
