I think my GH would be right at the upper range for this species, so it could potentially work. Probably a "get later" kind of fish though, since they seem to be more challenging to keep. But much more pleasant on the eyes :D haha
 
If you're looking for suitable loricariids, rubberlip plecos, or Chaetostoma formosa, like hard water. Mine was way too soft. :( I think they're pretty. But you need to be able to keep your temperature down to 22-23C and have some flow your tank.
