Hey,

I think one of my smaller Discus may be getting the start of what seems to be white spot. It isn't very bad, the granulates are small, and there are only a few, on the one fish. He tends to hide all day, and doesn't come out. He only eats a very small amount. What should I add to the tank? I don't want anything that will wipe out my bacteria colony. Wilder, help! :shout:

Whitespot look like the fish has been sprinkled in salt on the body and fins, every where really.
If you think it whitespot turn temp up to 30, increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Remove black carbon out of the filter if you use it.
Not sure on a whitespot med where you are from sorry.

Yep, I have seen many cases of white spot at the pet store, and it looked like the beginning of it. The temperature is always at a constant 30. I checked again and the dots where gone, so i'm not sure what it is/was. I will keep monitoring the fish, and hopefully nothing else comes up.

Ok good luck.

Hmmm.... It looks like two of the Red Eye Tetras have cotton mouth. It is a whitish brown on the top and bottom lips of the fish. I saw it on the first fish, and now see it on the second (second only has it at the top.) It doesn't "jut" out much, so it's hard to tell if it's a cotton substance, or a harder substance. I guess i'll just get some Melafix and start treatment.

I wouldn't use melafix as you can get some very bad strains of mouth fungus which is columnaris it soon can rot the mouth away.
Columnaris comes in a brown colour as well as white.
is it spreading fast, high temp won't help as columnaris thrives in hotter temps.
I would turn your temp down.
