Have a mature tank tank, 12 cardinal tetras, 4 sparkling gouramis and 3 corydora catfish... Got the latter and 5 new cardinals just over a week ago. No immediate issues, parameters fine and then this morning found the tetras covered with what looks like salt grains... looks like ich, having googled it. The gouramis and catfish appear unaffected.

I have completed a 75% water change, removed ornaments which are now soaking. The temperature has been raised from 26 to 27oC - hoping to push it up to 29oC by end of tonight as higher temperatures accelerate the ich life cycle?

Please could anyone advise on what else to do... ie medications... I'm heading out now and hoping to get to Pets at Home for 3:45, responses by then would be brilliant.

You could try just the heat treatment, i personally wouldn't risk heat and salt with cory but another member may be able to advise further with that.
I have just treated my first ever ich outbreak last week with waterlife protozin and had no issues regarding tolerance on fish, plants and bio filter.
Ich cleared up quickly and everyone seems back to normal.

Have got a second tank, 20l - going to transfer fish, filter, heater tomorrow and give the main tank a thorough clean.

Have put temperature up to 28 degrees, will they be alright at 29/30?

Pets at Home had a pathetic selection of medication products!!

If you move your fish into another tank and just do the heat treatment, I would suggest not to put any substrate into the tank. You will have an easier time getting all the cysts as they fall of the fish when you do daily vacs.

You could leave them in the 20 gallon for about 14 days, and any ich left in the other tank will have no food source and die on its own.

Heat treatment alone cured the ich in my fish tank over a year ago. It took almost 2 weeks though... almost looked like it wasn't going to work.

Fish in 20 litre tank with filter and heater at 28 degrees celsius -no substrate or plants etc, they're not happy fishies!
