My two adult mollies both showed symptoms of ich less than two days ago. This morning they’ve mostly cleared up and have acted normally throughout this entire ordeal. I’ll post a photo though it’s very hard to see the white spots with my crappy phone. If I treat with api ich cure I will lose fry, I will lose snails(so no salt either). None of the fry show symptoms, water parameters are ideal. It’s either a sign of a healthy immune system of the fish, or possibly the reproductive cycle of ich. Then I will be forced to use medications :(. There’s a light gray patch on the black mollie I think he’s losing some slime coat. Not certain, I wouldn’t rule out other bacterial or fungal infections either. Very inexperienced with illnesses here. Sorry about the crappy pic.

Salt does not help with ich.
If you see any more white spots turn the heat up to 86F/30c for two weeks (or 1 week after the last spot), no need to use meds, heat cures it as long as it is high enough for long enough..
If you are unsure about the diagnosis, post photos here and someone will be able to check.

I agree with the above. My concern is, was it really ich, or something else? The photo is not clear enough. But can you provide some data on the water, this may answer some questions. GH and pH are crucial for mollies. They are also highly susceptible to ammonia, nitrite and nitrate...do you know these numbers?

If the fish had white spot and the spots have gone, the parasite will be in/ on the substrate dividing and in a couple of days time, the fish will be covered in them again. You need to start treatment now otherwise the fish could be covered in thousands of parasite in the next 2 days.

The safest treatment for white spot is heat. Raise the water temperature to 30C (86F) and keep it there for 2 weeks, or at least 1 week after all the white dots have gone.

Do a 80-90% water change and complete gravel clean before raising the water temperature. This will remove a lot of the parasites and fewer will be left behind to re-infect the fish.

Clean the filter too. Wash the filter materials/ media in a bucket of tank water and re-use them. Tip the bucket of dirty water on the garden/ lawn.

Increase aeration/ surface turbulence to maximise the oxygen in the water.
