Well my fish have had signs of ich for 3 weeks now since I introduced 2 honey gourami's from pets at home. No losses as of yet. I tried raising the temperature to 30c for 2 weeks while treating with Interpet white spot because I've heard its safe for shrimp and snails but yesterday I noticed my neons showing the first signs of ich a few had white spots and the gourami are itching themselves on the substrate. My rummys and cory have shown no signs. Raising the temperature seems to have made it much worse and that medicine hasn't done anything ive done 5 doses now over a 3 week period.

I've brought King British white spot treatment because I've heard its much stronger so I'm going to try to start a course of that tomorrow hopefully it will get rid of ich before I lose any of my fish. I'm just worried because it says only give half the dose for scaleless fish like my corys but will half a dose be enough to get rid of it this time? This ich doesn't seem to want to go away!

There is a strain called super ich, heat alone does not kill this and some medications have trouble eradicating it. 3 weeks is an awful long time for them to have it. Scaleless fish usually refers to knife fish, elephant nose (very delecate) and loaches. What species cory do you have? I dont know all corys but cant think of a scaleless one off the top of my head.

If you have no luck with a course of King British use Esha Exit, this is brilliant stuff and safe with shrimp and loaches and its a very short course medication (3-5 days usually)

Persistant ich could also be stress or other problem within your tank. Can you post your tank size and water volume, what fish you have and your water readings (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH)

Yeah I must have the heat resistant ich and I opted for the least strong form of medication because of my shrimps, snails and cory. I have network/reticulated cory, I thought cory were referred to as scaleless fish?! My fish all seem happy and are eating no problem I haven't lost any yet but they have obvious signs of ich, my tank water readings are spot on ive been doing regular water changes and its an established 90l/23 gallon tank. I have 7 neon, 6 rummy nose, 2 honey gourami and 2 cory (I would have more but I cant find this species anywhere), 4 shrimp, 3 snails.

Thanks for the advice ill try this stronger medication and then try Esha Exit if it doesn't work!

Make sure you remove any carbon from your filter as it will take out your medication before it's had a chance to so anything.

I found this .... http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/profiles/reticulated-cory/  which does say they are highly sensitive to medication. Esha exit is safe for sensitive species of fish, but keep a close eye on them. I have not used it with corys. What shrimp to you have? I used esha exit with amano shrimp with no ill affects. I would recommend contacting Esha labs and ask if exit is safe for your shrimp.

They are usually pretty quick at responding.
