Ok, so for the past few days, I've been treating my aquarium for ich, which got introduced after I brought a few mollies home about a week ago. The medication is called Super Ich cure, and I have removed the carbon filter as instructed. All of my fish have completely been healed, except for one: my siamese algae eater. It seems to be getting worse instead of better for him, and my fish have constantly been pecking at his body, and won't leave him alone. What can I do so that the ich on this last fish clears, and why has he gone downhill with the medication instead of uphill? Also, I picked up a few platy fry at the store the other day, and I was wondering if it would be ok to move them into a floating nursery inside the main tank, the one that has been affected and treated for ich. Right now, they are in a separate container, but they aren't as active as they were when I first bought them....and their tails are scrunched instead of fanned out. HELP! :shout:

I'd seriously reccommend setting up a hospital tank for the SAE....
Maybe be mild hypoxia as SAEs are used to well oxygenated water.
Did you raise the water temp with the medication.
I wouldn't add the juvenile platies yet either, realistically it would be much wiser to wait until all signs of illness had subsided, if not longer than that for safeties sake.
If i were you i'd go get 2 cheapo plastic tanks with filters and 2 purigen pads if i had the money....
Do you have space for the platies elsewhere?

I would raise temperature in the temp slowly till it gets up to about 80-82F degrees. This will help stop the cycle of ich in your tank. Also I would consider putting your SAE in a hospital container. Rubbermaid or any other plastic containers work great for quick isolation units.

I would not add the platy fry into the tank just yet. I would wait a few days, until you can get the SAE out, treat him separatly, and then watch the fish in the tank to see if they no longer have ich. Then you may be able to add in the platy fry.
