Well I did the week dose (Protozin) already and I'm continue to add another days worth of treatment, but today both fish have white spots the larger one more so.
I think the filters are doing too much of a good job TBH its clear from blue after about 3-4 hours? I've already taken out carbon filter block left five sponges and a basket of noodles and a basket of bio balls. Thought about taking one of the filters out but scared Ammonia and Nitrite will make the fish suffer more?

Should I change the meds at this stage as I'll have to wait 48 hours before carrying out the new treatment or just carry on dosing the tank for another week?

Current testing levels are all 0 PPM. Except Nitrate which is around 20PPM.

I would try another med. There are lot of medication resistant strains of ich about, so the Protozin might not work on the strain of ich your fish have.

The blue colour does go quite quickly; as long as you don't have any carbon in your filter/s, that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Flutter!
I'll give APi White spot a go unless someone can recomend a good one?
Just realised the protozin is a couple of years old that could be the issue here off to buy some new stuff!

I've stuck in the heater to 30C to speed up the Ich cycle a bit, before next dose of treatment.
Fingers cross I'll get rid of the dam Ich!

I think its all gone now but now have fin rot to deal with

By the way 24C is the best temp for the parasite to cycle the heater was set at 30C, but try and monitor it does not go above 26C.

If the fish can tolerate it, you can add some aquarium salt.  Lots of people use that alone for curing ich, and it might help reduce their stress and speed the process.

Epson salt would have been my choice, but I have quite a few plants in there and well they would die right away TBF.
Good news the white spots are going only a couple on the fins.
I'll treat them once more today then until all have gone then treat the fin rot with Api metafix I think its called.

Good that some spots are going away!  If you want to do a salt (Epsom, AQ) you could always put the plants in a bucket of tank water for a couple days...they should be OK.

Thanks that was going to be plan B if the white spots were to get worse. I stuck loads of plants in there to soak up Nitrate as it was quite high a few week ago. I just thought it was best to leave everything in and balanced until I saw some improvement.
Today was a good day 25% water change and carbon back into filter to remove meds for 24hours. Then I'll sort out the fin rot on the fish which already looks better already TBF!

My poor goldfish is getting nipped by the smaller goldfish he seems to go for the rotting tail fins!

I hate ich!!! I remember it took me 2 weeks to get rid of it. I used no meds, just cranked the temp up and just added salt everyday until it cleared. I had about 21 baby guppies at the time and it struck! I also had cories and plants and everything survived. It was a very stressful time!
That's good that it's clearing, it's such a relief.

Yes Ny82 thanks for sharing, its been constant monitoring and treating. but hey ho they look better, swimming fine and eating well!

Thanks CoryL95!
I've started cycling the new tank and plan on moving internal filters over one at a time no substrate, plants or anything, just a clean tank for the smaller goldfish to move in temporarly.
I want my older gold fish to have the 125 liter tank to her self until she fully recovers as the smaller one keeps attcking her rotting tail fin and stressing her out big time!
Even if I cycle it for three weeks with old water and old filters 300 liters should be fine for the smaller goldfish.
If I have to change the water more frequent so be it, as I think the Ammonia will be minimimal in such a big tank
I really think my old goldfish is not going to last too long with both of them in there?
