Tank: 55 gallons
Current Residents: 1 loach, 2 African dwarf frogs, 5 black skirt tetras, 3 zebra danios, 5 swordtails, 1 xray something?, 1 yellow and black something?, 1 rainbow something?, and 2 golden snails. Massive extinction recently wiped out half of the tank.

I am having an ich problem, I raised the temp. to almost 85 degrees (F) and I do not have a hospital tank available. I gave my 3rd treatment of ich medicine and my frogs are still alive, though I've had a huge extinction from the ich itself in the last 3 days, i've lost about a dozen fish, all which were new to the tank (purchased within 2 weeks). My loach, (i have only one) is one of my favorites, I would feel worse if it died than just about any other in the tank, as well as my 3 swordtails and their 2 babies, which all have been in the tank for about a year, (babies are about 3 weeks old). Just before i noticed the disease here are the changes to the tank that were made... 1) I had a 10 inch pleco that i gave away because he was causing to much waste and making the tank look disgusting. 2) I bought about 10 to 15 new fish (many were very, very tiny schooling fish)

Any advice from tropical fish gurus is much appreciated, I've only been into fish for about 2 years now and it's becoming one of my favorite hobbies. This is the first time something this bad has happened to me so far.

Did you remove the carbon from your filter? if not, do so immediately. The carbon with remove the medication from the water. Good luck!

I would suggest investing some money in a isolation tank. also can be used a hospital tank. Also you will be able to remove the frogs from the tank when medicating for parasites.

Did you use the full dose of whitespot medication?
What is the brand name of the whitespot medication?
Did you remove black carbon from filter?
Black carbon only active for about 2 - 9 days.
Are the fish still covered in whitespot. Or just a few spots left on the fish?
