Ich ? Or Hith ?

You have a bad bacteria infection in your tank, turn temp down by 2 degrees.
Fish can flick with columnaris and it sounds like you have quite a bad strain as columnaris can turn into sores.
Find you a good link as i'm still on my sons computor, havent put mine together picked it up today after being mended.

The small white pimple symtoms sound exactly right but I`ve not seen anything that resembles this "saddleback" effect or anything I would say resembles cotton wool also it sounds like it kills fast (although it sounds like there are different strains) where as these spots have been visible for weeks. I`ve seen a lot of white round fishes mouths though.

I`ll have another look at all the fish and get a pic of this new pimple spot thats forming.

I`ll turn the temp down a bit as well.

Thanks again.

This picture here looks similar to the pot-holes in the fishes head. (HITH)

I've seen some white along the top of the back on one of the fish.
The thing with british meds are that they are not strong, that why you have to get on top of thing fast.
There is another med but it wipes the bacteria coklony out in your tank, but for some reason it never did in mine.

Under one of the fish dorsal fin that where saddleback columnaris starts.
To be honest those columnaris spots are really hard to get rid of, that why antibiotics are better.

Sorry ? reduce the temp by 2C or 2F presumably 2C.

Those anti-biotics sound good/strong but I don`t fancy having my filter bacteria wiped out, could I run my filter on another tank during the 4 days or would this transmit the bacteria to the other tank ? What about the ammonia build up having no filter running ?

To be honest i wouldn't risk running that filter in another tank.
Do you have enough muture sponges in the other tank, as then you can just take them from there after the treatment.
And remove old sponges out of the deseased tank throw them away and just add some filter floss during the treatment.
Or boil the deseased sponges in the microwave a few times.

No The other tank(180 litre) is brand new, no fish or water but I have another tank a 29 litre with a small elite filter but it`s tiny (300lph) that tank has 4 small fish in.

The only thing I think I could do is take the tiny filter and put it on my main tank after the antibiotics have finished but that would leave the small tank with no matured filter, maybe put the small fish in the 180 litre tank and hope with a larger body of water they will be ok with water changes ?

See how this Myaxzin goes first ?

No easy answers.
It might not wipe all the bacteria colony out, sometimes though you have to if the desease is taking over you just have to take a risk, as you can lose alot of fish anyway.
Sounds like the columnaris has get a strong hold on the fish.
You could try some salt dips like mentioned in that article, as columnaris desease hates salt.

I`d consider that but my tanks got a lot of rockwork in and all that would have to come out to catch the guy each time for the salt bath.

I woudln`t be too gutted if I lost a couple of fish if the problem was eradicated. I`d euthanise him if I thought that would sort it as well.

BTW there are 7 Petricola catfish in tank if that makes any difference.

Thanks again.

This is a pic taken just now circled is the new large pimple/spot that has appeared.

The demasoni has a slightly hollow belly than before but I would say not really no, When I initially bought my fish (July) 2 of them wasted away and died over a few weeks, it was as if they had no stomach left. This isn`t the same though (they showed no spots or ulcers). No deformaties no.

Can I rule out Ick ?
What do I need to do if it`s an advanced bacterial infection ? Anti- biotics ?

The link was for fish constipation was that right ?

Thanks for the replys .

Not good then you have a desease in your tank.
You are dealing with fish tb to internal parasites.
Check the anus of the fish to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
And i would take a look at that med tolak proposed.

What colour does the poo look like when they go to the toilet.

Contact tolak again he very good with internal parasites and meds.

I can add the Med tonight Tolak proposed I`ve already run a course of Octozin (contains Metronidazole) .

I`ll leave tonight and see how it is tomorrow.
I`d say poo normal brown/red not white.
Don`t think the anus is red or imflamed I`ll double check though.

I`ve PM`d Tolak again

Thanks
