Ich ? Or Hith ?

I`ve seen that on a few fish including the new one when I actually bought him . I always thought it was from lip locking/scrapping.
Maybe thats it then. Myaxin probabbly more potent than Pimafix ?

If they been locking lips they should of gone black the lips through fighting.
Need both the myxazin and pimafix as them spots are hard to get rid off.

Ok, good luck, get the meds fast as columnaris is a killer.

I would treat as columnaris, as this is the faster moving of the two diseases. Carbon in the filter has been implicated in HITH in some research. If you are running carbon you will be removing it if you med. Metronidazole works really well on the internal form of heximita, many people have helped New World cichlids with HITH by feeding a vitamin enriched diet, along with frequent water changes.

Here lies one of the biggest problems with sick fish, med availability. Metronidazole is available at most any lfs here, I think you will have to go to a vet to get it, or dimetronidazole. As far as enriching with vitamins, get a liquid vitamin, the type often used for infants or children. Soak a few pellets in a few drops of vitamin, and feed to the fish. Just make sure the vitamins contain no alcohol, they used to years ago here. If you go the vitamin route, you can start treating for HITH along with treating for columnaris.

Right this is what I`ve done today.

Added Pimafix and Melafix at normal dosage.
Added Myaxzin at normal dosage.
Added Waterlife fish vitamins.
Increased aeration in tank with rubbish air pump.
Slowly reducing temp to normal (26c)

Should I do any water changes during the treatment ?
The treatment is for 5 days (Myaxzin) is this long enough ? or continue until the spots/symptoms go ?

I`ve noticed flicking since doing this in a couple of fish.

Also I`ve taken a pic of another fish that has concerned me it has a sort of brown mark where it`s fin meets the body also one has appeared on the tail fin (which is in poor condition). Not sure if this helps or is related.

Shouldnt off added the melafix wanted you just to use the myxazin as it a better bacterial med then melafix.
They are flicking because of the meds, have you increased aeration in the tank.
The brown mark is if fluffy or a dusting hard to tell on the pic.
If you have to preform a water change just add the correct amount of med back to the water removed.
Go with the 5 days water change, then i would go with another round as columnaris can soon come back, but don't add the melafix.

Columnaris come in colours of white, yelow, and brown.

Right I won`t add any more Melafix , I`ve heard of people combining it with Pimafix and with the open sore I thought it was a good move. Sorry.

Yes more Aeration via an Air pump (although a small one) .

The mark is more black looking again and appears to be just black fin TBH.

That white spot that was Volcano shape under his chin has receded to just a white-ish patch now.

Thanks again for the reply.

The black could be a wound healing also ammonia burns can cause it but they are healing when it is black.

Could be the bacterial infection or fighting, i wouldn't worry about the black mark.

Left you the link last night but look under black patches.

I`ve taken some more pics just now and after looking the fish I think it`s getting worse another "sore looks like it`s appearing on the Afra Cobues other side and some of the other fish look like they have single specks just one or two on there body/fins. Along with white patches which I`ve always thought are from flicking on rocks but I might be wrong.

The fish are eating fine, really hungry but they are a bit more lethargic than normal, could be the meds.

I`m getting really worried now what this is.

I think you have a parasite on top of the bacterial infection.
The fins in area look like there been sprinkled in salt any other fish look like there been sprinkled in salt.

I think there could be two problems going on here somehow aswell, the picture of the anal fin 2nd down I don`t think those spots are anything just reflection.
There ARE definitely some of those white spots which are on his face where his anal fin meets his body which can be seen on pic 2 though.
There is another white spot thats got larger today just behind his right sided pectoral fin I`ll try and get another pic.

Have you seen the sores on his side in the first pic ? there are a couple more forming near his tail which can be seen on the 2nd pic down.

What do you think I should do ?
I`ve continued with Myaxzin and Pimafix and I`ve fed them with pellets soaked in Vitamins.
The fish are acting normal and eating fine.

Thanks again for the help.
