Ich Medication Troubles

I have ich in my tank. Just noticed it, no question, it's ich. The med I already have (always come prepared, no?) contains Malachite Green and Formalin. The problem is, I believe I remember thinking malachite green will kill scaless fish, which is a GREAT problem, considering I have a knife fish (Ghost Knife, perfectly healthy, about 4") and am unable to put him in another tank (Stupid tiger barbs........ nippy things) Now, to the point. Is malachite green safe for scaless fish? I know meds go half the dosage, so there's no need to tell me that... I WILL NOT TREAT THE TANK UNTIL THIS IS ANSWERED. Thank you so much!!

Yes it is harmful to scaless fish i would just half dose, i will get you a link.

i used it with my corys in the tank and it worked fine, just half the dose and turn the temp up and keep a close eye on the tank

Alright now... just added 45 drops of the stuff.... Just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH. Where would TFF be without Wilder?

Thanks, keep an eye on the fish closely just to make sure the fish are ok with the med, lots of aeration, good luck.

QUICK UPDATE

Instant: all fish are trying to eat the blue drops of medicine. Rather entertaining, actually . No immediate effect on BGK/Cory Cats

30 Minute: Everybody's back to normal... as if nothing happened. BGK shows to be slightly more active, then again, he was just fed. Nothing like sliced grapes and brine shrimp to cheer everybody up! Cory Cats are zooming about as usual. Looks as if I have little to worry about... will keep on with updates.

Update

Day later: A complete nightmare.... Ich has spread from my golden severum to the green severum, the two drifter skirt tetras, and it looks to be on the silver dollars. Every time I look at my gold severum he looks worse... he just sits on the gravel, propped up against the glass, breathing normally..... I'm worried as can be... now doing half doses on the tank TWICE a day instead of once a day... appears to have no negative effects on the BGK or the cory cats. Any ideas for ways to help the severum?

Not much you can do, only lots of aeration, parasites are nasty and can cause bacterial infections as well, hope he make it, good luck.

another update

Scared as can be!! In a matter of hours... EVERYTHING IS COVERED IN ICH. THIS IS INSANE. Silver dollars, BGK, & corys seem to not have ich, Thank God... but the green severum has more white on him than green..... he is exhibiting lethargic behaviour like the gold severum... I know there isn't anything I can do besides what I am doing... but I feel so...... Helpless, you know? Like you take the responsibility of an animal's life... and you muck it up. Bigtime, apparently. Maybe this'll be better tomorrow.... or maybe there'll be a casualty... no way to tell at this point, from how bad both of the severums look.
