HI guys, I have a 20 gallon tank - I have upside down catfish, a female betta, 3 mollies, a drawf gourami, and a platy. My tank is filled with ich. I've tried cleaning the water - I"ve used the ich medication the WHOLE BOTTLE and it's getting worse. The Gourami has the death hang... it's upsetting he's barely moving. I need help... the all black mollie has BIG white spots not like the salt grains look like ich - I'm starting to think my spotted mollie

This tank was set up about a month ago. all the water tests out PERFECT. I had a little problem with a the ammonia wasn't extremely high ever it was just a little higher for like a week... added a live plant and it lowered that 2 days later... but this was during the beginning of the ich...

The higher ammonia would make them more susceptible to the disease. What meds are you using? Somebody may suggest something better. By the whole bottle do you mean according to dosage or there was no change so you redosed until the bottle was gone? Do daily w/c until the disease goes away. You must gravel vac as well. You can also use salt and slowly turn the temp. Up to 82 to 84* F. Try to prevent secondary infection with the gravel vacs and w/c s. I recommend a 40-80% daily. Anyone can correct any false knowledge I have given you. Hopefully none :) don't panic and try to do the best you can.

i've been dosing correctly according to the bottle. It ich is getting worst while doing the medication.

The stuff is called kordon rid-ich plus. Should I buy more medication? I'll do another water change tonight and gravel.

I just used that same treatment for ich in my tank and after a week i had no signs of it but treated for almost two to be sure. Every day i would vacuum the gravel removing about 30 percent of the water and then adding the treatment with new water. Hope that helps

as you start dosing, ICH, will seem to get worse. or not really improve.
the ICH bug is only susceptible to meds, during one of its three stage life cycle.
this means that when you start treatment, cysts will still be producing the free swimming form.
after the second, and third, treatment. the ICH will begin to, truly, decline.

you say the tank was set up a month ago. is that including the cycle?

someone has already pointed out stress can cause an outbreak.
this is only partially true. you need to have the ICH bug in your tank first. no amount of stress will cause ICH, if not.
