I have a cycled ten gallon tank with a turquoise guppy and five neon tetras.

Four of the tetras are new additions (I started out with two tetras and lost one in the move) and they brought ich to the tank (they showed no signs of the parasite at the store and looked perfectly healthy). I QTed them for about a week with no signs of any illness. A few days after, I noticed several of them had developed ich. I have been treating the ich since then (approx. 6 drops of QuICK Cure a day) and have kept the temperature at around 80 to speed the life cycle of the parasite. Yesterday I noticed two of the tetras had developed fin rot, primarily on the tail fin.

Should I treat the fin rot at the same time as the ich? Or should I wait until the ich has cleared?

Finrot common on top of whitespot.
I agree don't use two meds just treat for the whitespot, the whitespot med helps deal with the finrot.

Yes.
Good luck.

Yes after the whitespot treatment is finished, do a 50% waterchange, then strat treating with the finrot med :)

Don't use melafix its only good when fins are healing, if its bacterial finrot.

I just noticed the red on some of the tetras is a little faded, but the blue stripe looks fine. Is this kind of discoloration normal when neons are ill?

Are you sure its fin rot? Tetras nip eachothers fins all the time. I usually have one or two out of my dozen or so that are banged up but they heal fast and go at it again.

I'm pretty sure. I haven't noticed any nipping, from the guppy or from the tetras. I'll try to keep a closer eye on the fish to see if they are nipping and I'm just not seeing it.

Update: All five tetras are dead. After the way they looked Friday I expected it.

But I also have another question. Is it possible for guppies (fish in general) to get lonely? My poor guppy has been laying on the substrate since a few days after I got the four new tetras, but if someone approaches the tank, he seems to cheer up and swim around and flaunt his pretty tail like he used to do all the time. He doesn't show any signs of illness other than the lethargy. I haven't done water tests since Wednesday, but I expect everything to be normal.

Bad news when guppys lay on the substrate, usually they don't make it.
Have you finished treating the whitespot.
