I mentioned the other day that my tetras were literally stalking my new cories 24/7 - here's a pic:

And now I've discovered why - the evil tetras have obviously been spying to work out what is so cool about the substrate that the cories spend all their time there, and have worked out the answer is FOOD.

I just saw a tetra take a whole sinking wafer right out of a cory mouth and swim off with it!

greedy piglets  anyone else ever seen anything like this?

My poor plecs never see their sinking wafers. As soon as the neons, but especially the dwarf barbs and the mollies see them, they forget they're surface feeders and go for it big time. That's even with the lights out! Luckily I have an algae problem, I think that's the only thing that's keeping the plecs going!

I've just noticed they're also feeding on food fragments that get stirred up as the cories dig, rather like seagulls following in the wake of a boat. cool. :D

:D My golden wonder panchax used to do this with my clown loaches. It was so amusing to watch. He'd wait for them to flick a pellet up and then grab it before the clowns had a chance.

I wish I had a pic, or better still a video, of him snatching the wafer from their mouths for you guys. Its kinda creepy the way you can tell exactly what their little evil eyes are looking at

My Neons feed on algae wafers every night. They try to grab them as they fall to the bottom of the tank, and then join the Otos and Corys on the bottom of the tank to work on the wafers some more. And I thought Neons weren't supposed to be bottom feeders.... :p

Very cool picture lol My Tetra's will swim off with Algae Wafers too lol So far tho, after about one hour of pure darkness...I can drop the Wafers in without the Tetra's messing with it (I dont see fat little bellies in the morning lol).

It's cool to see your cories swimming together like that. I have 3 Emerald Green Cories and one goes solo and the other two stay together (I do have Julii Cories and they stay together).

I have the same thing with mine, they even take it out of the Gibbiceps mouth and they've been known to nip the barbels of the cory's.
