hey i was wondering if i can put a mirror inside my tank (making it see biggger)

dose anyone know if mirrors are harmfull to fish

i think iv seen it in betta bowls but i

didnt know if it was a good idea

you could and people do. but there can be complications. i think you'll find that only amateurs put a mirror in a bettas tank. as anyone that knows what they are doing with these fish know it just stresses the fish as they flare constantly at themselves thinking its another male.

this is the real deciding factor with any breeds anyway

if i have only community fish will it cause trouble?

my friend said it could contain bad metals that can toxicate the water and maybe kill fish

I had a small tank with a mirrored back, which looked pretty good - it did make it look wider and I had small shoaling fish in there which it doesn't bother.
Am not sure you could jsut go buy a mirror and stick it in the tank becuase they are metallic backs. Preferably, put it against the outside of the tank if possible. Or else you could maybe seal it with high quality non-polluting yaught varnish first?

My hospital tank came with a mirror as its back. It annoys me, but seems to have little effect on my livebearers. Wouldn't keep a betta in there, though.

I know at one time they use to use a Mercury Based product on the Back of Mirriors, What they Use NOW I have no idea.

But it's Not worth the risk to you Fishes Health and well being.

I agree If you want it that bad Then Put it on the outside of the Tank.

That way if it BREAKS it won't Hurt the Fish, another thing to take into Consideration... I'd SAY

yeah i just took off my backbround and put a mirror there and it wasnt as great as i thought it would be

a black background os much cooler

the reflection bothers me

and i think my fish where going crazy wanting to go to the "other side of the aquarium " lol it was funny tho

It didnt offend me really but I know some people that would have been offended and thought bad for you.. its just I have fry and I would be oh so upset if it died as I only have one i rescued from the tank, glad you changed it
