I went for maybe 5 small Synos for the Moba tank. I left with 3 Compressiceps, 4 6" clown Loaches, 2 S.petrocolas and 6 S.Multis. :hyper:

*Picks you out of aquabid* :)

Clown loaches are nice I used to have many most at 8", which tank will they go in, community?

Whew! thanks for the help up! I've got lots to do.

Actually the clowns are for the Moba tank. I have 2 clowns in the communuty tank that I will put with them later. So there will be 6 clowns. The Comps will also go in the Moba tank and some Synos. The Comps are the red fin Lubufu. I know nothing about them, except they were recommended as good tank mates for the Moba. It should be a handsome tank. But I suppose I am back to making frequent water changes. :X

Got to check all the tank parameters and get ready for a tank full of new fish. I need to go get more BioSpira, I think.

I need to see if all the tanks are good. If so I can move water from the established tanks to the new one.

Not something I'd do, mix clown loaches in an African rift lake tank. Troubles with bullying, the pH and the water conditions and stress may make them likely to get diseases, like whitespot which they are 'prone' to though mine never had it. Maybe run a UV filter aswel, that would make it better, no pathogens in the water.

Why would you want to move the water? It doesn't have anything benefical, no bacteria etc. Would be best to use clean water and use mature media.

I've been recently told that the large clowns in a group are not bothered by the Cichlids. I actually do agree with you though about the conditions of ph etc., jayjay. As I think of it now, I really had intended and would prefer to keep it African Rift. Serveral people have told me now that they will do well in a frontie tank. It remains to be seen. I think I succumbed to impulse. I'm not sure what I will do with 6" clowns if they don't do well in the Moba tank. I will though add some Aquari-Sol to the water when they go in. As a matter of fact I don't particularly want a heavily stocked tank to have to do frequent water changes in. I'm afraid that is what I may have with the clowns.

As far as the water is concerned, it is my longstanding understanding that the water does have bacteria in it. I have transferred decor and media from mature tanks testing well. I plan to trade off some more today.

Ok on the clown loaches.

Just the water has no bacteria in, well a tiny amount, just not enough to make it worth it IMO.

It's done now. I did it on advise. The bacteria in the water is I suppose why more that 50% water changes are discouraged. I am now looking at my little Honey girl who is sick. The water tests good, but I am losing a fish here and there in the community tank since moving the tank (100 usg, had to drain 75% water) and adding some 2 large botia dario a few weeks ago.

I always do huge water changes, I don't have any problems. I do up a 70% ish change on my 90g once a month. Sorry about your other fish.

Well, I think fish keepers must be a little masachistic to chose a hobby with so much death as part of the deal. Who would keep dogs if there was such a high % of loss.

The shipment is here! :hyper: I am letting them rest a moment while I get myself to gether ( I am also setting up a hospital tank for the honey.

4 clowns of that size generate a lot of waste- unless your tank already has a fish load of about 4-5 times the clowns, you are in for a big cycling issue - and clowns being scaless do not fare well with ammonia and nitrite.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Good reminder.

I will be fasting the tank for a few days. And I will add more mature media. I am actually concerned with acclimating them to the new ph. :/ I am changing them from 6.8 in the bag to 7.8 or more in the tank. I have been acclimating them for 5 hours or so now. But I have never done this before.
