So I'm at one of my lfs's with what I considered to be the most experienced of all the lfs guys. He has 8 tanks at home as well as two ponds. I was looking at a rather sickly looking fish, I don't know the type and he said that he was constipated and he gets like that every couple of weeks and after a couple of days he should be ok. I said 'why don't you give him some crushed peas' and he said 'oh right I never thought of that.'
Then I noticed another sickly looking fella in the corner and I said 'ah look at that poor fella, what happeded to him?' He said ' a customer brought him in as he has whitespot so I'm treating him.' I said 'but won't the rest of them get sick?' There were around 10 other smaller fish in the tank too. He said ' Well if they do I'll just give them medicine and they'll be ok.'
I thought that was bad practice, especially as he had some smaller tanks that were empty. I asked why he didn't quarantine him and he said it was easier this way.
