I Want To Re-Do My Whole Tank

I just did a 50% WC today so if I "re-do" my tank over the next few days is it safe to use back the original water in the tank? Or should I just change the water while I'm at it?

I thought the filter needed to be running if it would be more than about 24 hours before it was started up again. Otherwise the bacteria won't have anything to feed on .

Yes, of course, but it should be fine just for a couple of hours that it usually takes for maintenance

Not over the net, under it and just close your hand over the fish (very gently, let the fish rest on your hand, don't squeeze) with the net between your hand and the fish.

OH! I was wondering how was I gonna use both hands and hold the net a the same time. Goodness how embarrassing haha.

I just re-did the tank.

Boy was the gravel dirty I rinsed it 5 times and although after pouring in the new water it's still a little murky, it's much better than before!

I did a 100% water change because I was really disgusted with the old water. Hope this helps things a bit.

When I was almost done filling the tank, I put the filter media back in and tried to start the filter again. Totally forgot I had to reach a certain water level before it could start so my media was left in there for 10-15 mins moist. Would that have killed off my bacteria? I poured some water in between.

I was watching my fish swimming around when I noticed my neons seem to have white spot again Should I treat for white spot now? Plus I'm not sure if my tigers have gill flukes or not, they always breathe heavily. And my male swordtail was flecking although I'm not sure if it was due to the time spent in the bucket. Suddenly things don't look that great anymore...

No I didn't. Looking at how dirty the water was when I emptied the tank, I didn't want to risk anything. Was I supposed to?

I saw 1 neon and 1 female swordtail fleck twice but no more flecking now. Also, I don't think my neons have whitespot. I just recently treated the water for whitespot a few days ago unless it's come back again? Maybe I'm imagining whitespots on them

The bottle doesn't say how long to use it for so I just use it until the whitespots disappear. So far it's been 4 days however I didn't dose the med yesterday because I saw that the whitespots on my tiger barbs were gone.

The medicine treats the whitespot which is only in the water, not the stuff on the fish, so it is important to continue treatment until all the sponts are gone, then still do one more treatment. Without instructions, I recommend that you do a 90-95% water change on the 2-4 day of the treatment and redose.

It would have been better to keep some of the water because a change in pH, KH and GH can stress the fish enough to cause an outbreak of a disease. There was unlikely to have been anything wrong with the water the fish were in unless it gave and ammonia or nitrite reading.

It is very unlikely to be unless you've added something new to the aquarium (excluding water) in the past 4 weeks and it is basically impossible to confirm unless they are large enough for you to see. The best you can do is check for if *every* symptom is present and even then it still might not be flukes.

About dozing the meds, do I add meds everyday? I used to add every other day but would like to clarify. You said to do one more treatment after the spots are gone, does that mean 4-7 days of meds again?

well you do the treatment for 3-4 days to kill what's in the aquarium, but there is still parasites living IN the fish which when it 'matures' leaves the fish and then lands on the floor to spread to the next fish and starts over again, so do a week of it and turn your temp up a bit to speed up the process

Yeah I searched a bit on it just now. I don't see anymore white spots now so will do a week of treatment starting today. Thanks a lot
