I want them all!

I have dreamed about building THE PERFECT HOUSE. It would have a big pond outside that comes right up to the outer wall of the house, which would be acrylic, of course, so I can watch the fish from in the basement. That, plus a lot of in-the-wall aquariums would just have me giddy.

I have also wondered about getting a clear tube, like the one in that jaws movie, to go through my little lake, so I can be sorrounded by the fish. (But no Great Whites, please)

(Sigh) I will have to make do right now with possibly seeing if I can make room for a 125 (if I can get the money and hubby's ok.)

Lifebear, I talked about that very house just yesterday with my girlfrien, plexyglass wall and all

Too much scrubbing if you ask me ;) Maybe if the house came with a maid to scrub the acrylic clean..

I thought it would be neat to run clear tubing all over and let the fish swim in. Run it from the outdoor pond let the koi swim around in it through the house..back out to the pond where on the way out you could look overhead and see fish swimming..

It's a logistical nightmare to keep it clean while making sure no fish are in the tubes....another of the great ideas that will never happen..

I would build a ledge over the wall to keep sun off of it. Also I'm not sure koi would swim in tubes, but if they would you could always keep and algea magnet to do it.

Size: Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long, 12 miles wide, and 72 miles of shoreline. Lake Tahoe’s greatest depth of 1,645 feet makes it the third deepest lake in North America and the tenth deepest in the world.

Volume: The water in Lake Tahoe could cover a flat area the size of California by 14 inches. This is enough to provide everyone in the United States with 50 gallons of water per day for 5 years. And believe it or not, the amount of water that evaporates from the surface of Lake Tahoe every year could supply a city the size of Los Angeles for 5 years.

Clarity: Tahoe’s waters are among the purest in the world at 99.7% pure. A white dinner plate can be seen 120 feet below the surface with little trouble.

Temp: During the summer months the upper 12 feet of water forms a layer that can warm to 68 degrees F, but below depths of 700 feet during the winter the temperature remains a constant 39 degrees F.
Okay, what kind of fish are in this lake? Since it is so clean, it might be worth a visit just to see the fish. I never knew it was that big. Very cool.

the LFS i go to for dry goods has a dissapointing display tank.
180
4-5 ID sharks
2 green cories
1 discus with 1 eye
2 angelfish
1 skunk loach
1 pictus

my other LFS has a like 300 african tank that i LOVE. it has too many fish for me too count but some notables are
-breeding pair of fronts
- a ton of calvus
- a BIG raphael
-a 6" RTBS

Whats in the Australian Native tank? Is it Marine? Sorry for being dense but I can't think of a single body of freswater in Australia!

I'd like to have an atrium in my house that was big enough to have a tropical rainforest, with a river, complete with all the fish, non-nasty amphibians, reptiles and birds that would normally live there.

Might need to win the lottery for that one I reckon. :D

Re; Lake Tahoe - any volcanoes nearby that could heat it for you?
