Now that I just about have my 46gal up. I was thinking about transferring the current fish stock from my 10gal, and getting a Fiddler Crab for my son....ya right for my son.;)

But I am unsure as to how the plants in my 10 will take to brackish water.

I would guess the HC would not have a prayer, and probably the Sag too.

If it's too much hassle I will bag the idea. I just saw a tank full of crabs at the lfs, and thought one would be pretty cool in a smaller tank.

Thanks for insights.

No idea if they'd take brackish or not. Why not get red claw crabs instead? They're pretty much the same thing, only freshwater.

Thanks I'll check them out.
The Fiddler's were really interesting...jerking that huge claw around. And, from what I've read that although they are sold in most stores as fresh water they really need brackish if you want them to live and thrive more than a couple of months.

I just got done reading a pin in the brackish forum, and 3 of my 5 plant species will do ok in a brackish tank...I could transplant the other 2 if I go brackish in the 10.

ba carefull with crabs I had 2 red claw crabs and they were possibly what started my finrot problems as they were nipping my bottom feeders also no matter how much i fed them they still proceeded to chew the base of my plants and within a month all i had left were my java fern and another plant leaving the tank looking pretty bare and me about £30 down.
