I Want A Gymnogeophagus Biotope

I dunno whether this belongs here or somewhere in the planted section, but I am going to be upgrading to a 5ft tank for my gymno's in the next six months and I want to create a biotope environment for them - I am aware that they originate in Rio Uruguay (small streams & lagoons) but can't find much via google as to what a biotope would entail?  
 
Any ideas?
