hey everyone im new here but not new to fish. i have had a 50 gallon tank set up for about 2 years and a bunch of 20 to 30 gallons now and have kept alot of different fish i just got rid of all my small tanks and only have the 50 left and i want to get 1 big fish for it. what do you guys think is my best choice?

What are the dimensions of the tank, warlord?

That's more important than the volume when you're talking big fish (and can you say which is height and which is width too please?!)

Right those are important too. Depending on those though there should be some good cichlids for that tank or I'm sure there's others I'm overlooking.

it is 36 inches long 24 inches high and 14 inches wide, i had cichlids in it b4 and they all kept killing eachother, im looking for either a single specimen tank or im going to do a community tank with some nice schooling fish

If they did that then you had the wrong ones lol.

they were all african cichlids lol i like the idea of just 1 semi big fish i guess

Maybe go for something like a dwarf snakehead or a school of Hujeta gars?
If not then your best bet is doing a community tank.
I think maybe a single Jack dempsey would suffice although 36 inches is a little bit on the small side.

hmmm maybe im gonna go with some schooling fish unless i can find those hujeta gars

Oh..
