I have only 1 surving white molly fry. He is special to me for 2 reasons...

1. he is the only one that survived
2. he was born on my birthday

I went to feed him today and he was just sitting on the bottom. Usually when he sees me he swims straight to the top looking for the food.
He swam up for a little while and was sort of eating. He had a few bits of tiny flake but didn't seem very interested. Usually he is a little piggy.

Does it sound like he has swim bladder? If so, how can I fix it?

Thanks!

I forgot to say that he is about 2-2.5 months old

And my ammonia is 0
And my PH is 7.0

Don't know about nitrate and nitrite....I don't have the kits for those

he wodnt have had a bad swim bladder, that is when they are 'rolling' around in the tank. he by the description u gave he could have had anything.

1. Why was he the only survivor?
2. How many fish are in the tank?
3. How much, how often were you feeding him?
4. How big is the tank and how often do you do water changes?

I think the reason no-one answered is that it was impossible to tell what was wrong with him and from what you said there was little chance he'd survive. The important thing now is to prevent things going wrong in your tank again. I'm afraid your fry would have died whether you'd had a reply or not. Now lets establish why he died and let his death not be in vain.

He was the only survivor because it was by pure luck/chance that I spotted him. I didn't even know my molly was pregnant!

He was in a double breeding net I have in my 3ft community tank. The net is about 25cm long and 15cm high. I know it's not the biggest for a growing fry, but I have an ACCIDENTAL betta victim in the hospital tank which I usually use for the fry. My last sailfin male died about 3 months ago, so I thought I wouldn't be having anymore fry and put the victim in the hospital tank (as you do lol) I still live at home and have 3 tanks running at the moment and my olds are getting a little p!ssed. I have my 3ft community tank, 2ft betta tank (individual male and sorority), and my ? litre hospital/grow out tank. I know I shouldn't use them for both, but my fish hardly ever have any problems, and I really wasn't expecting this little fry!

I used to feed him a little pinch of brine shrimp flakes (highly crushed up like powder) twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. He use to swim around so frantically like he couldn't eat it fast enough!

Last night when I came home from work and checked on him, he was sort of rolling around and I knew it was over.

Bless him. Sounds like it was probably a bacterial thing. I found mollies very hard to keep til I set up a brackish tank specifically for my mollies, since then they've been invincible, well not quite but they're much happier and the bacterial infectiosn they were so prone to in the community tank have vanished. I doubt there was anything you could have done. x

Thanks scooter :)

I agree with keeping mollies is a little hard. Anytime I have had a problem in my tank, it's been one of my mollies.

I still like them though. They just take their toll on you lol
