I've had my male betta Ichigo for almost a year now. I used to feed him 5 betta bites per day (two in the morning and three at night) but then he got fat and his swim bladder got out of whack so I lowered it until he seemed normal. I've been feeding him two in the morning and one at night, with occasional bloodworms as treats and occasionally not feeding him his dinner, but only like once a week I do that. My one friend thinks that I am underfeeding him. What do you think? I think it might be true because this morning I found him at the bottom of the tank and although he swims a little bit, he seems really lethargic and I'm worried that he is sick. I think it might be his swim bladder again but I don't think it's from feeding him too much but maybe its from feeding him too little. His stomach doesn't seem completely rounded and fat but it doesn't seem really flat but it might be because I need to feed him more. Or maybe he is just getting older. Can you give me any advice on what to do? Thanks!

he might be an old fish if you got him from a petshop he was probably 1 then a year latter he would be 2 now

the reason why he isn't swimming anymore is because he was so used to eating a lot...now you feed him only 3 times a day and its like you stopped the cycle...you know what im saying?...getting the betta fat isn't a big deal...to me it isn't...but i think you should start feed him again 5 times a day like usual...try it...i bet he will swim again. :D

Thanks for the help. I guess I will feed him more (but not too much!) and see what happens. He might be a little older too, like you said.
