I Think My Leather Coral Is Sick

Looks like shedding to me. Will probably cast of some slime in a few days and open bigger and nicer than ever. :good:

Hope so, but that thing on the second pic looks like a rope aroung a neck of the coral. It looks like its killing it :-(

Corals don't 'strangulate'..they are photosynthetic. Giving us some tank params may help. SH

Have to agree with lynden looks very much like a shed of the leather that hasnt fully removed itself from the coral, whats the flow rate like where the leather is?

They dont strangulate but that can suffocate if they dont shed that muck off in time. Make sure there is sufficient flow around the leather.

The amount of flow needed by these things is usually overestimated. When they want that slime off, it's coming off. No worries.

I tested:

temp: 80F
salinity: 1.025
nitirte/nitrate/ammonia/phosphate: 0
pH: 8.4

I have 28 gal, 2 maxijets 1200 they are in different corners pointed to the front wall of the tank.
Coral is right in the center between them and in the center of the tank, I am not sure how much flow they need.
Do I have to point one of the pumps straight to the coral? How do I find out if flow is enough?
Maybe I can move it to another place?
