ive been reading about this fish since i last saw a few of them at the lfs. i was wondering if this fish would be okay with a betta. its the fins im worried about really because so far my betta has been fine with angels and a gourami and a few white clouds.

i dont wanna add a shark in there because i know the poor betta wouldn't stand a chance.

is the ram i want a truely peaceful fish or does it have it's glitches in the peaceful misfortune? (wanted to sound all nerdy  )

Personally I would think it's okay rams are peaceful on their own or in a pair.

i think it would be down to the temprement of the betta tbh. how old is it? if it's passed maturity and has been fine with angels and DG's it'd probably be fine. however betta's temprements can sometimes change overnight so you'd need some sort of back up plan in case this happened

the temperment seems fine. its never bit another fish since ive had. not sure how old it is exactly but ive had it about a year now and its about 2 inch long (not including fins)
a long story short - accidently, a male guppy was put in with the betta and it was fine. not even a flare of those things under its gills. thats when i thought id try it in the community tank. and its worked out perfectly right now. i was more worried about the ram nipping the betta's fins tbh.

i guess its just one of those things no one could be sure on.

Ya, i wouldnt worry to much about the ram trying to nip at the betta. Rams seem to live and let live unless it comes to others of it owns species. I would say that you prob wouldnt have any trouble unless as stated, the betta got a bug up his butt and started pestering the ram.

I have a pair of rams in with a betta in they are doin good. I would assume when the rams get older there might be a few problems but hopefully since the rams have been with the betta from a young age they mite be ok. And the betta has been in a community tank for most of its life. My 2cents
