Ya know - I am surprised that I'm not totally crushed that Gary is gone. I'm just happy to have had him I guess. I just smile whenever I think of him and how cute he was, and how he minded his own business while getting in everybody else's business, totally oblivious to pretty much everything the entire time. What a cool little guy.

On a bit of a side note - Daisy got to go back into the big tank last night with the other 5 girls, so they're all together again now. She was in a hospital tank for a couple weeks right next to Gary's tank. I think she knows what happened to Gary (she was totally in LOOOOVE with that snail) and now she has gone on a psychotic terror. She used to be the most passive little bottom scrounger, never bothered anyone, was sweet and if anyone was swimming by she politely swam out of the way. She always went about picking leftovers off the bottom quietly and on her own.

Now she's flaring and chasing and stealing food from everyone - ramming into plants and causing a ruckus. Last night I saw her rip a moneywort plant out of the ground with her mouth.

I think she's upset.
I wonder if I need to go out and get Gary II, another tank, and put them together in it to live happily ever after....

Okay, now i'm a little sad he's gone.

He wasn't on the floor for any longer than 6 hours. I went to bed at midnight - found him at 6 am. Still long enough.
Poor little guy.

Daisy's been out of her tank a few times before for a stretch. She never got haggy at all when I put her back in before - it was kinda like "Hey guys! I'm back! i'll just be down here cleanin' the bottom if ya don't mind..."
