I Shouldnt Have! - Update

Okay, so i was at my LFS today just looking at fish (my fish tanks empty and the waters fine) and i saw a betta disapear behind some wood.. in with black widows! I asked the man why he was in with them and he said ''we had an over delivery and we have nowhere to put him!'' i felt so sorry for him i had to get him. I really know i shouldnt have but he was getting nipped and hiding from them i couldnt help myself. If you think it was bad of me ill take him back. But not until i know they have a free tank. Ill check the water every day and change it if needed.

Im hoping you guys will help me get through this!

NO - don't take him back. Just watch your water & do frequent water changes. I'm no expert, but I would think that would work.

I think you did the right thing. As long as you keep an eye on the water it should be fine.

Hard work but from looking at the wee guy it looks like it will definately be worth it.

Update:

This morning, my betta passed on. I think the black widdows got to him. I will be taking his dead body back to my LFS and telling them that if they dont have the tanks then they shouldnt order! Very upset at his death.

RIP Unamed betta.

Im going to a different, better LFS today to get another betta. Ive stripped the tank and washed it all.

We had a very similar experience yesterday. We bought a gorgeous orange bodied blue finned ST and he was apparently fine. Got him home, he was dead overnight . absolutely gutted, so I know how you feel.
