...bought a 10 gallon tank and have another community- instead I bought Bombay. Bombay is my new blue, red, and grey betta! I went to Wal-Mart looking at the sick fish, luckily the bettas are always in clean cups, and are perfectly healthy. This day though- the bettas looked horrible! I wanted to bring every one of them home!! Their fins were all ripped up, and they had green, floating poop they looked so miserable I skimmed through all of them, but the one with the worst finnage was Bombay. I picked him up from the shelf and bought the biggest goldfish bowl I could find, a nice big plant, and some BettaFix. I brought him home, conditioned the water, and added the big plant (takes up a lot of space!) I acclimated him and added him in. At first he looked so funny, squirming at the back of the plant, and then when he couldn't come out the other end he'd go crazy! I adjusted the plant so he has plenty of room to swim in between the "branches" and the back. He looks happy, and I'll try to take some pics, the goldfish bowl is thick, so the pics will be (if I take them) bad. I added the BettaFix and some Aquarium salt- he looks more perked up now!
and lots of space
if I wasn't so sure he had ripped fins, I'd think he was a combtail! His dorsal and his ventrals are in the worst condition- all curly and broken and with chunks out of them. Darn that Wal-Mart!! I'll have to go rescue some more if they have any left!
