THe question is this. The post above said that addign soem salt to a moily tank can help in fighting desease sush as fin rot and fungus. I agree with that but the post also said to use marine salt.

Now I am not 100% sure of the difference between marine salt and FW salt but I have always been told that you are not supposed to use the marine type salt in a FW tank. They have the FW type salt that you can purchase to add to a FW tank.

Again salt is salt but I think the marien salt has a lot of other things in it liek trace elements that are benifical to the SW tank. But can these hurt a FW tank?

What is the validity to the FW salt for FW tanks and Marine salt for SW tanks argument?

mollies enjoy a brackish enviroment which is found naturaly in the wild where salt water (or marine water)
joins fresh water which is where mollies thrive

I'm not sure what you mean by freshwater salt. If you're talking about Aquarium salt, it doesn't do anything to make the water brackish. You need marine salt to make it brackish. Once you add the salt, the tank isn't freshwater anymore, so yes, it's fine.
