Just after a bit of advice I would reallk like to put a betta in my tank. The tank is 60l tank and currently houses 3 Zebra Danos, 4 Guppies (2F/2M) and 2 High Finned Plattys. I have read and been told that some bettas mix well ad some dont, but I went to the LFS today just for a nosey round and they had a male betta in a big tank of tetras i think. What would you suggest?

Also if I didn decided to give it a go and it didnt work out I could get a small tank for a betta, but what would you say the minum requirements for this tank should be?

Thankss in advance for the advice

Probably not a good idea for that tank. For an individual setup, something between 2.5 and 5g would be ideal- ideally with a heater, possibly with a small sponge filter.

I agree with OohFeeshy.
There's a good chance your other fish will nip at the Bettas fins. :good:

AS others have said, I'd just go ahead and get a seperate tank for a betta. If you put one in your current tank, the betta might pick on your guppies or your other fish would pick on the betta. Better to just save yourself that headache and just go with a seperate tank right off the bat :)

get a seperate tank. some of those fish may nip at your betta's fins or he may be a vicious little guy (like my pacific) and kill them all. it's better not to risk it.

the bare minimum tank size a betta can live in is a one gallon - but pacific's quite happy in his. i'd go with a medium critter keeper. i have shadow in one and it holds almost 2.5 gallons and it's cheaper than a tank.

it can be 6 or half a dozen with bettas and livebearers. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. personally if your thinking about getting a bettas own tank, do that first. a 3-5 gallon is perfect, a small heater and low disturbance filter if ideal. add a few ADF's, shrimps or fancy snails in there and its compleate.for the betta tank, gravel or sand (sands better for the frogs) a few live or silk plants and maybe a bit of decoration like a cave or large stone for the betta to swim around.

t1tanrush is right guppies and male bettas look alike and most likely wil attack each other so i recommend a 1 to 5.5gallon tank for only one male betta then personalize the betta tank with rocks and maybe some fake plants..

A real plant would be best, but if you're going to use fake, just make sure it's not sharp enough to slice through the fins.

I wouldn't put a beta in this tank but, if you had another and picked up some tetras (black phantoms seem to get along VERY VERY well with my betta) and try to start a tetra/betta tank.

go for it! i put two male bettas in with my tanks which carrys 5 platys 2 plecostamos, 1 leopard gourami and one dwarf, and 2 RTS in my 30 gallon and one of them did just fine and the other attacked every fish so i took him out and he is currently at my boyfriends but my other one is still in the thirty gallon and is completely content with all the fish. :D

Please, please never keep 2 males together, in a community tank or not.
Also, Gouramis are a bad idea as they are from the same family and are likely to end up attacking each other.
