I think my tank has something in it. I don't know what it is but it killed my gouramis yesterday and today my mollie fry the two I have had for about a onth are doing the same thing. They can't swim to the surface and now tomorrow morning they will be dead. Can I use maracyn on the tank for the next 5 days with the fry and the female bettas in there. The bettas don't seem to have symptoms but I want to take precautions early. Will it hurt them if they dont have anything? I have nowhere to heal the fish if there is something wrong with them. so it has to be done in the tank I have. I'm going to get a new filter bag and do a 25 percent water change everyother day till it gets better.

i would have thought fine with fry but no clue on the bettas sorry. good luck finding an answer :good:

What are the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? How long has the tank been setup? What sort of filtration do you use? How big is the tank?

Do a big water change - 40-50% and don't change anything in the filter - could be ammonia thats the cause of the problems, and the bacteria that break down ammonia (unless its an undergravel filter) live in the filter media.

Repeat 40-50% water changes once or twice a day and answer the questions above, and hopefully someone will be able to work out whats killing your fish.
