I'm driving myself nuts on this whole fish thing. One minute I think I want one kind of fish, the next I think, no more fish! and the next I change my mind and think of something entirely different.

I know I want more fish for my thirty, but I don't know what really. I would love something in the middle range, as I have the guppies and the pictus in a tall tank, so that leaves a good amount of open space with nothing in it. I don't mind carnivorous ones either, but I don't want to have the guppies or mollies killed indiscriminately. If they will get eaten eventually... :/ I'm okay with that, because they were meant to be feeders for the pictus. I will also go for nice fish too. Don't think I'm just whacked. -_- I just want something that's active and has some character.

Anyways, here's to you! Just say any fish you'd get that can go in this thirty gallon.

I was thinking blue rams too. Very active and TONS of personality

Won't angels kinda, you know, eat the tetras? I'm not against it, but I can't afford three dollar feeder fish if you get my drift ;) I do like rummynoses though... I'd thought of the blue rams, and they were a biggy on my possible list. Danios? I've never had them before, don't they jump out of tanks a lot? And what exactly are electric yellows? I've heard the name but have no idea what they are :/ Also, I'm pretty forgetful, so I don't remember if a purple or rainbow gudgeon would be okay in here?

I don't mind big, well, you know, as long as it fits.

Jimmy, I though dwarf puffers would be cool too, but from what I've been told they'll go after all my livebearers, and I love cories but I already had to take my small ones out because the pictus was starting to look at them more as a possible food source than as annoying things that occasionally brushed past him. I will definitely consider anything though people, just throw some ideas out!

Chooklet, are you serious about the electric yellows?!?! Aren't they kind of aggressive? Or are we even talking about the same fish? I'm talking about the Electric Yellow Cichlid, and if you are too, they aren't a very good fish for that tank are they?

I would suggest some tiger barbs for the middle, maybe a RTBS as well.

If you get 8 or more tigers it shouldn't be a problem. Also the guppies are females so they won't tempt the tigers as much (no large tails). She also said she doesn't care about the guppies, as they will get eaten. So I would say go for the tigers. get large ones, as the pictus may thank you for a nice buffet if you get babies.

I don't mind if the guppies get eaten, I just don't want them ripped apart for no reason, and I'd kinda was hoping to have a bunch of them before they started getting eaten. I guess I can always just put them in the five gallon if I have to. David, I was told a RTBS would be a huge bad thing because of the pictus, I don't really want to have the pictus get dead, ya know?

Now you see my problem, so many fish and not enough tank hehe... I want everything!!

Why would the pictus and RTBS be a bad combo? As far as I know RTBS are only aggressive towards their own species. You could always get a rainbow shark, which is less aggressive.

I don't know why this would be bad, I just asked this on the catfish forum before and they all just about screamed no. That and I was hoping to get something more for the middle, or something that's all over the place.

A school of Rosey Barbs. 5 or 6 are very active and attractive. They are my favourite fish and have always had at least 1 in my tank since I started keeping fish (6 years ago)
