When I went to feed me Guppies this morning I saw one of me Assassins floating under a bubble at the top of the tank. At first I thought it was dead and floated to the surface but on closer inspection I noticed the bubble he was clinging to. Weather it was intentional or not he could have been there all night floating around in the current. Anyway when I touched him the bubble burst and he sank to the bottom of the tank then off he went for a mooch. The question that comes to mind is :- How did he get in that situation? The bubbles from the air stone are too small and I can't see the big bubble from me ship wreck now and again catching him. I know the Assassins climb up the tank and bubbles do seem to hang around on the surface but surely if anything touches one of the it bursts so how did he get there?

Have you any other stock in there besides the guppies? Wondering if it was a defence mechanism of some sort. Have seen terrestrial snails blowing bubbles when threatened

Haha sometimes my snails cling onto a bubble and then the currents from the filter push it around in circles but usually he just lets go of the bubble and sinks back to the bottom or the bubble bursts and he sinks :) not sure how they get there tho
