I can't wait for 'em to get here. I bought a 48" 2x54W T-5 light and a 6 gallon bucket of Aquariumplants.com's substrate. 6 gallons 'cuz I'm finally planting my 75 gallon, if I have some left over then that's just fine with me!

I'm too excited to keep my mouth shut!

A journal is coming up as soon as I have all my stuff together....should be SOON!!!!

Quick question.....if anyone reads this. My 75 currently has sand as a substrate, what is a good way to get it all out when I change substrates?

And another query - I have some potassium nitrate (KNO3) and some mono potassium phosphate left over from my old 29 gal. Probably a little less than 1 pound each. My question is they are both close to two years old, they should still be fine to use....right?

If you are changning substrates then just get out what you can and leave the remainder in there. use a cup to scoop it up. Then empty your filter water into the tank and squeeze out the sponges in there too. Then plonk your new substrate on top.

The sand remanants, filter water and mulm from the sponges will 'kickstart' or 'seed' the tank.
