Hi,

I'm quite new to fishkeeping but always research before buying any new fish. However I came home from work today to find my boyfriend has bought a baby bala shark for our already well stocked 60l tank. I'm sure they grow far to big though... I have liked the look of them in the past but realised they weren't suitable for our tank. I've pleaded with him to return the fish and that it isn't fair on the fish.

Am I wrong?

If not then please help me get it into his thick head we need to return this poor fish!

They grow to about 10-16 inches, like to be kept in schools and need extra long swimming space as they like to swim fast. That would be strike one, two, and three. He's got to take that fish back.

Show him this;

Bala shark

Then make him take it back!

Your tank may be too small for the bala shark and they are aggressive and may hurt your other fish. also without a school they get lonely and die early.

I'm not sure how you figure that there is a possibility that it isn't too small... 60L isn't big enough for a 3 inch rainbowfish, let alone a fish that grows to foot or so and loves to swim.

thankyou guys, hopefully when I show him this he will see sense! If not I'll wait till he goes to work and take it back myself.... its not fair on the poor dude
