Hi everyone,

My dad's getting a really big printer (A3 size), and there's no space to keep it. So I have to move my tank a few feet to the right, to make space near the computer.

Its a 23 gal tank. This is what I've thought of doing:
I'm thinking that I'll empty 75% of the water, and then push the tank slowly, inch by inch. I've kept it on a sheet of thermocol, so I'll have to make sure that the thermocol moves along with the tank. Obviously I'll have to push from the base. During this, the fish will be in the tank.

Is this safe ?

The problem is that I have my exams, and I can't really put in the time to empty the whole tank and start all over. I've done a "pushing" thing with my 6gal tank earlier, but it was a very light tank.

Any suggestions? Should I remove the fish while pushing?

I have moved my 10gal by removing most of the water and leaving the fish in. Took off the filter and heater to make it lighter and to get the cords out of the way. Then i got some help and moved the whole stand with the aquarium on it. A 23 liter tank with most of the water removed shouldn't be that heavy. Just get some help... you aren't moving it too far anyway.

When I moved into my old room, we had to move the tank and the stand seperate!
It wsent that hard. The stand was holding 2 10Gs, one on top, one on bottom.
We romved the one on top, and left the bottom one quorter ful. worked nice...

Thanks for all the replies :)

I tried to move the tank by removing more than half of the water, but it just wouldn't budge, I seemed as if the glass might break if I used more force. So I transferred my fish into my empty 6 gal tank for the time being, and I'm currently emptying the tank.

Its hard work, but I got no choice.

Mission Complete!

To the left is the really big printer, and to the right is my tank :)

Actually, one zebra died this morning :( But everone else seems fine.

One tetra had cotton-mouth before I started with the whole thing, I'm treating it in the 6 gal.
