It just came. I have pure latererite to go under my gravel. I have flourish tabs to go under my plants. I have flourish, flourish trace, and flourish excel. I also got 3 pieces of malaysian driftwood. 1~9" 1~8" 1~5"
I did alot of reading and this is what I came up with that I needed other than more lighting(which I am working on) Am I missing anything?
I am currently working on my 29g. I have a few unidentified bulb plants(7), some small java ferns(5), and a stem plant(money wort maybe). I am currently hunting more plants to fill in and around. I am having trouble finding the ones I like. I have a black background, and black & white gravel.
I have a whisper 30/60 double filter(hob) and a bubble bar. I also have a ario 2 with blue led.(small sponge filter/air pump)
The fish I have now in it is 2bronze cory, 2 albino cory, 2 peppered cory, 6 red zebra danio, 6 longfin zebra danio. I plan to get a blue ram pair. (maybe a kuhli loach, still checking)

Did I get the right things? I need guidance. I am new to live plants.

I am getting a new glass top so I can add more light. Lighting is somewhat confusing so I am still trying to figure out what I need on that front. I just bought a all glass full hood. I was told that would work fine...NOT!
It only has a 20w single light. The problem is I am not into getting shocked trying to diy, and I can't spend a fortune on lights on one tank. Are there any options that could work for me?

I am very confused, but trying to understand. I am not looking for really fast growth or anything. I just want healthy plants and a more natural look. I want to keep it as simple as possible.

That is the info... now tell me what to do... as I have no idea what I am doing here. Please help.

Thank you

will the bubble bar in the back hurt the plants? Can I plant near it?

Are these the right products?

Can I plant things infront of the intake of the filter? How far away should plants be from it so they don't get sucked in?

Can someone please tell me these things. I have searched, and it appears that no two places can agree. I need to know.

Thank you for your help...

Most of your setup looks OK, but there are a few things you can do to improve the way plants grow.

First, don't bother installing the bubble bar, as it will drive co2 out of the water. Plants utilise co2 to grow, so you dont want to over agitate the surface of the water either. If you install a diy/shop-bought yeast based co2 unit, this will also help the plants grow. It's better to add the co2 (if you do) before adding extra lighting.

Try and get more plants like the pennywort (look in the algea sticky for a list of plants that help keep algea down).

Also, you can plant near the intake, but just not right up against it. Plant in front of it so that it's hidden,

HTH! :)
