I was wanting some ideals on what to put in the bottom sand or gravel ???? I needs some ideals on what color to use to..Anything but blue I am so sick of blue and white..That is the color in all of my tanks and I have a bunch of them now...3---55 gallon tanks 1--30 gallon 1--20 gallon long tank--- 4--10 gallon tanks plus 5 betta tanks 2 gallon each 1 3 gallon tank...and all of them have some kind of blue and white gravel in them.... So please if anything comes to mind please post on this topic or PM me one..

Dont anyone want to help me out some   I am sad to think that no one has any ideals for me.....Come on people I am waiting to get my new tank going :D :D :D   I want to see these little things in it soon :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

MRshouty and I are getting ready to start a new tank, and our thinking is to go with "natural" colors. The other tank has black with bits of neon colored gravel and a neon cave thingy and neon "coral". MRshouty picked the neon and now doesn't like it (15 what should I expect). So we decided "natural" for everything for the new one so that other than plants the only color is fish.

I have seen a pic of a tank set up with easter island statues, it looked really cool. I very nearly set my tank with them, but I found a really nice sunken boat and didnt think it would go with the statues. Just a thought ;)

Hi Angel Lady :)

I like the natural look too.

All of my tanks have #3 builders gravel in them, which is a natural rock in shades between beige and light tan. It's fine enough for the corys, and has no rough or sharp surfaces.

It's also very inexpensive. I buy mine from the lfs for .15 a pound or $12 for a 50 pound bag. While I have heard of some builders gravel having sharp edges, I have never come across any like that. I suggest you check this out before putting it in the tank, just to be on the safe side. :D

How about the Tahiti Moon Sand by CaribSea I have it in my 75 gallon and all of my fish will go and play aound in the sand plus it really accents the colors of the fish against the black sand.

Thanks everyone I still wanted to mabey mix the gravel and sand has anyone ever done this before??I just want something different to look at for a change....

Because of the size of the grain in sand /gravel.....all the sand would go under the gravel and wouldn't really look that good...I'd go with one or the other....depends on what your thinking about....And i agree with luv my Oscar...a tiger oscar and a group of 10 pictus catfish would look great :D

You could go with a good plant supporting gravel and a whole bunch of plants that would provide a good medium for most fish especially a large colony of small fish.

And AngelBaby Id like to see those pictures of the easter Island tank.
