my betta is a year old and he's doing really well....
but i just wanna know if i should breed him again or just retire him?

I wouldn't and here's why:
- Breeding them does wear them out a bit.
- He's a veiltail, and it is harder to find new homes for veiltail fry than others. (They are more likely to end up in tiny cups with people who don't really know how to care for them - more 'exotic' strains are easier to sell to people who know what they're doing.)

He's a beautiful colour and if you can find a female who's a good match, AND you know that there's enough demand for potentially 300 young veiltails, then there's no reason not to, but be careful with a year old. Do you mean he's a year old or you've had him for a year? One year old is middle aged, if you've had him for a year then he's likely to be more than 18 months old and that's positively geriatric.
Just make sure that you can rehome the fry. Have you bred him before? The wording of your post sort of makes it sound like you have so there's no need for the usual lecture (that we give people only because so many of them don't realise what they're getting into - months of water changes and potentially 300 new fish, and 150 cups.)
