Ok my female guppy gave birth a week before we went on holiday. I managed to save 3 of them and put them in a breeding net and persuaded someone to come feed the babies while we were away.
The day before we went I tested the water Nitrite0.25, ammonia 0.50 and nitrate 40.
So I did a partial water change.
Im now back the babies are looking good(still in net) but the mummy is no where to be seen. Spent hours watching tank and shes not there.
One of my mickey mouse plattys has a half eaten tail but the other fish seem to be leaving him alone now (he was a bully to my other platty).
I did a water test again today and nitrite is 0 ammonia 0.50 and nitrate 20.
Im sick just now with flu so is it safe to leave doing a water change for a couple days if I clean out net babies are in. And could it be babies causign the spike in ammonia??
I have meds for fin rot and know I should give them but should I do it now or wait till I do a partial water change??
Thanks for any help

I'm not an expert, but if it was me, I would prefer to change the water before adding meds. A couple of days might not make much difference, but then it might. I hope you're feeling better fast. I know how it can be when you don't feel well and things still need to be done. I might ask a family member to help in your situation, but i don't know if you have someone you trust to do it. There is a guy I met at my LFS who cleans tanks for extra $ on the side, but i don't know if it would be worth it to you to look for someone like that in your area and see if they can help any faster than you can do it yourself.

If only one fish has finrot only treat that fish. Kind of like you haveing the flu just cause your not feeling good should every be taking meds casue of that.
