This morning before I left for work I did the usual check on the tanks and everyone was fine and getting along just fine.

I've just come home and found an adult guppy dead and with no tail fin left at all... the other inhabitants in the tank are 1 Male Betta and roughly 10-15 Guppy Fry (plus, a few little snails that hitchhiked in on a plant).

Which of these fish could have done this to her? Is it possible that the fry are starting to develop and all the male fry harrased her and chewed the tail etc? Or was it possible that the Betta mistaked her for a another betta? (She was a cream colour with a redish tail fin).

ANY IDEAS?

Thanks

It's most likely the Betta. I seriously doubt any male fry would harrass her that much, and nip her fins that bad. Do you have a way to seperate the Betta?

I would assume it was the betta. They should not be housed with guppies, bettas are to aggressive for most tropical fish, especially guppies. They will nip the fins. I would get the betta or the guppy fry out of there before he eats them all. They are not compatible. He will eventually eat the fry.

I doubt that.
