I Need A New Light Unit

my rekord 60 light unit has never been any godd being a t8. and i want to buy a t5 unit. the tank measures 60cm length * 30cm wide. can any if you recomend a unit which is suitable and has t5 lamps and is less than 150 quid

or could i buy a t5 unit the 55cm one and fit it to my existing hood. or wouldnt t fit?

i use an arcadia twin t8 unit which is very good they also make a t5

You can buy starter units that you could fit into your existing set-up.... be it with a bit of bodging and some tools.

e.g. Interpet T5 36watt Compact Aquarium Lamp Starter Unit £30-ish quid many places.


Do a google search on the above: and then look for one to power the lamp of your choice. To fit it you would need to remove the existing electronics in your current hood and place fixtures for the new lamp in your hood. You could always buy another hood to fit it all into if yours is on its way out (dying of old age)... I know my plastic hood started to look a bit crappy after 5-6 years.. the heat of the lamp aged my plastic.

i have been looking at the arc pod and it says you can attach it to the underside of your hood how would i do this?
