I murdered my swordtail

So sorry you lost your fish :-(

OMG I am never siphoning my tank again all the horror stories have made me

My siamese fighter is always playing around anything I put in the tank, I'm sure he would be in there in seconds if I looked away.

Sorry. :-(

My fish have the good sense to stay away from the siphon. They duck into caves, and come out once the siphon's back out of the tank.

umm well I dont know how much this will make you feel better, but I did something worse in my oprnion that I still cant live down. Its not about fish but my parrot Angel..I was vaccuming his cage out on the bottom and he insisted on attacking the end of the hose, so i figured id stop and just take him out, well when taking the hose outta the cage he went right for it and *foomp* got his head sucked in the vaccum.. I turned it off right away and felt soooooo terrible. He was absolutley fine, and still is alive til this day (3 years later) but i still remember the sound it made when he almost went up. now I know better, and still feel horrible abou the little guy..ah sorry for the long story I'm sorry about your loss..but dont beat yoruself up over it because from this entry you see that accidents just happen

That's kind of the sound it made when he got bent in half and went into the drain tube, and it jerked my hand a little. :-( I'm glad your little birdie was allright, that is such a terrible sound to hear. My dog blasted out of the door this morning when my dad walked out and ran up to the road and almost got hit by a car I'm not having a good week. lol My nerves are getting worn.

Just wanted to let you know, a few months ago I sucked up my African Dwarf froggie while vaccuuming... he was behind a decoration and I didn't see him. He didn't go all the way through the tube as it is too small..... but it crushed his neck. I cried and cried, felt so awful. I know I didn't wanna hear a whole lot of "oh it's ok it's just an accident", and I don't know if you're the same, but anyways... thought I'd let you know you're not the only one who has been in a similiar situation and felt absolutely awful.

I'm sorry, julie. :-( That really sucks. When anything gets in that drain tube it's pretty much going to be bad. :( When I went to get the poor little fella after he died,my apple snails were piled on top of him. They ate the entire body. There wasn't a thing left. I'm never turning my head again.

HI-
I am soooo sorry about your loss. Trust me I know exactly how you feel! About a month ago, I accidently dropped almost a half of a carton of aquarium salt into my tank (my little cousin pushed me as I was pouring it into a cup) and my two CAE burned to death within a matter of an hour, (even though I took them out and put them into fresh water ASAP)

I still feel awful about it :-(

oh im sorry about your loss, thats horrible for you.
im always paranoid about sucking a fish up the siphon esp as our neons & cardinals always seem fascinated by it & cluster round in a gang everytime i clean & our yoyos try to nose up through the gravel & under the end of it which is even worse.
