So I bought 6 baby (3/4") electric yellows for my newly fishless cycled 55G tank. After a few hours one of them started flipping out and then I remembered that I never did the 75% water change after cycling the tank. I did it as quick as a could but doing so required a big temperature drop (80 to 75). Over the next 24 hours every one of them died. I am still so mad at myself for being such an idiot.

It's been a couple of days now. The tank parameters are in line and I added 4 P. acei (1.5") and 2 P. saulosi (2"). They are happy as can be. I haven't seen signs of any aggression aside from .5 seconds of chasing.

I'd really like to add some electric yellows now. My question is whether such a small/young fish should be able to transition well and do ok with the larger juvies I just added.

Please forgive and assist!

Oh, that's terrible. The nitrates must have been astronomical! Poor things... Sorry to hear about your losses. :(

I don't know for certain, but since your acei and saulosi are still juvies (albeit larger ones), you should be ok.... so long as there are plenty of caves and rockwork for everyone to hide in and escape aggression when it does develop more.

In my experience, modernhamlet is correct - in fact, I have 3 inch P Acei and barely 1 inch Yellow Labs together. The dominant P Acei only goes after the dominant Yellow Lab and does not touch other yellow labs. He claims the open area just under where the water falls off the filter as his territory and the dominant yellow lab really likes that area as well despite getting chased off all the time!... (Dominant Yellow Lab is slightly smaller). He constantly chases other P Aceis but rarely lasts more than a foot in distance...
