I recently brought fish and noticed that the temperature of the Shops aquariums are lower than mine.....
I live in a fairly hot climate of around 37degrees celcius....
should i leave the heater off in the day time and turn it on at night

If only i lived in a climate like that. I just woke up because i felt too cold lol. All heaters should have their own built in thermostats, even lots of old ones. Once you set the temperature, it will only turn on when the temperature is below the one defined on the thermostat. However, even in England, in the summer, i disconnected the heater because i didnt need it. In fact, i had to drop a few ice cubes in the tank to lower the temperature.

Hope that helps

I would never turn my heater off, if its too warm the heater wont come on anyway so it shouldnt be a problem, but forgetting to turn it back on and the temp drops...could be bad for the fishies.

I have had it get too warm, I opened up the lid, left the lights off and put a fan blowing onto the top of the water and floated a bag of ice cubes in the tank.
